Tracking @ PDX

Jane Kline (AKC tracking judge, APDT Certified Professional Dog Trainer, owner of Pup Scouts Daycare & Training, and Co-Director of Camp Jigsaw) came to Chattanooga on April 22nd & 23rd, 2006 to lead PDX's very first tracking workshop. We met over at Prater's Mill in Dalton for some wide open spaces and indoor plumbing. The monsoons cleared out by late Saturday morning, leaving us with some lovely weather for learning about this very cool dog sport. The basic idea is for the dog to follow a human track. Since a dog's sense of smell is something like 100,000 times stronger than a human's, our role is somewhat limited. For a nice change, the dog gets to be in charge, and we're just along for the ride. It's a laid back, non-competitive sport, and it's all about learning from the dog and having fun together. Which we did!**
