Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge by K. ParkhurstJust this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Things Jessie Taught Me
  • Never miss a chance to lie down and have a short nap.
  • If there are no roses to smell, dandelions and clover have very nice aroma.
  • The slower you walk, the more you can enjoy the earth under your feet, the sun on your fur, and the air that you breathe.
  • Good hearing is not necessarily an attribute; sometimes you know more about a person, or a dog, by listening with your heart.
  • Take every opportunity you get to roll in the tall grass; more IS better.
  • If the sun is shining, bask in it; if there are clouds, imagine; if there is wind, let it ruffle your fur; if there is rain, step in every puddle; if there are people around, let them pet you all they want- remember that dog love is not limited by size or volume.
  • In all ways, always be a Lady.

Coconut Garner Coconut Garner

waiting for Shawn & Robin
since 09/30/2007

My little girl Coconut passed away Sunday morning. As you all know she hasn't been doing good the past few weeks but it was very peaceful when it happened. Robin handed her over to me when I got there this morning and we went to her favorite spot "the recliner" and within five minutes she stretched out, licked my finger (which was always her way to give me the seal of approval) and let me know it was time to go. Coconut had 16 wonderful years with us and was the staple of our fur children and she ruled the roost. She had many nicknames and would answer them all. Woobie, The Queen, Little Bit, Boo, Spitfire and Pee pot just to name a few. She had many adventures also. Camping buddy in the Smokies and Fall Creek Falls, Experienced Canoe paddler and her favorite was riding the cats in the house by jumping off the couch and later coming back in the living room with a wad of cat hair in her mouth (hence the Spitfire name). Words cannot express how deeply this two and half pound dog affected our lives but just knowing that she had a fun filled life with us will help us through.
