Daycare Photo Journal
July 2010:
It's been a long, hot, and busy month. Mostly hot, though. It's been in
the upper 90s most days, and nobody has a whole lot of energy for
anything but keeping cool. Air conditioners are on the fritz, pools and
lakes are like bathwater, and EPB employees are making plans for dumping
ice into the Tennessee river so that they can keep the reactors online.
Not really, well, maybe. Our little office thermometer reported that it
was 126 yesterday at noon. We tried to come up with reasons why it was
inflating the temperature, but in the end -- it's an oven out there!
You'll notice that there are lots of pictures of dogs lying down this
month. Even with the pools & sprinklers & misters, it's just hard to get
up the energy to party. We do have reason to celebrate, though. After
five and a half years, and much campaigning on Be's part, PDX has
finally won the Red Bank Chamber of Commerce Beautification Award. O the
singing! O the dancing! (O the gasping for air and grabbing of
inhalers!) Our thanks to Dixie's mom and dad (Reedy Landscaping), and
also to Brent of Mowing and More for helping us make it to the top. Stay
cool any way you can! -- Bev
