Daycare Photo Journal

April 2009: April is a conflicted month. On the one hand, we finally put winter down for its long summer's nap, which is mostly a fine thing. The winter parkas go up, the shorts and tee shirts come out. Spring starts gloriously springing in earnest, we get more time with the sun, the birds come back with all of their songs, and the world generally takes on a more cheerful aspect. But then there's the dark side: taxes. Boo, hiss. Of course, some folks get their taxes done in February or March, but most of us try to pretend that April 15th is still forever away, or go to our happy places where taxes are abolished and all God's children frolic in the greening meadows with Thumper and Bambi. So half the month we're in denial, and the other half we're bitter about once again having to send too much of our hard-earned money to people we don't know or trust, who spend it frivolously, irresponsibly, and foolishly on stuff we don't even want to know about. Flowers, taxes. Birdies, taxes. Bunnies, taxes. No wonder we're all halfway to the funny farm! Thankfully, here at PDX, we have all the dogs to remind us that there is nothing like a good snack, belly rub, sniff, or chase game to take your mind off the woes of the world. Whenever the taxes get to me, I just reach out, grab me some fur, and have a good long cry with Bailey, Cooper, Buddy, Maggie, or whichever therapeutic ball-o-fur happens to be passing by. Give it a try next time you write that check to the Treasury -- works for me! Bev

Dogs Do the Catwalk!

On April 4th, PDX dogs helped raise money for the Goodwill Assistance Dog Academy, a partnership between Goodwill and McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center. Its goal is to provide assistance dogs to aid people with disabilities.
