Daycare Photo Journal
October 2008:
So on Monday, the financial world crumbled, and it seems
that $1.2 trillion simply vanished from the United States stock market.
Tuesday, Piper's mom told me that gas was nowhere to be found between
Hixson and Dayton Blvd. Yesterday I heard that the price of milk, corn,
and prescription drugs just went up again, again, and again. So what's a
small business to do? We got a note from our Bil-Jac supplier that they
were "taking a price advance" on their entire line. Natural Balance went
another route -- instead of raising their prices, they redesigned their
packages to be a couple pounds lighter. Enough already!! Here's my
promise to you: we at Play Dog Excellent are committed to doing our part
in shoring up the economy and not jumping on the panic wagon. We will
not be raising our rates or decreasing our quality of service. We won't
even consider a price increase on daycare, boarding, or training until next spring. And THAT'S what small
part we can play in our small business here in small town USA. Yes, it's
naive, parochial, and philistine, but it's all we can do. Well, that,
and encourage all those important folks in Congress and on Wall Street
to lower their blood pressure and change their point of view. Just find
a willing dog and hug! -- Bev
