April 2008:
Well, we're on the downside of April, and I apologize for
the lateness of the words, but taxes are done, we're ready for the
flyball tournament, and all the pre-class hoopla is behind us. While
there's a minute to breathe, I wanted to get two messages out of my head
and into yours. First, please remember that the warm weather also
welcomes back the ticks, fleas, worms, allergies, and colds. Making sure
your dog is current on flea and tick prevention (Cris
& Cate
prefer Frontline Plus),
worm prevention (Heartgard
Plus monthly and
Panacur quarterly), and vaccines (check with your vet, but we're on
the three-year plan for rabies,
parvo,
distemper, plus annual vaccinations against
lepto and
Bordatella. All that isn't cheap, but it's a whole lot cheaper to be
proactive and save on the vet bills and heartache that happen when your
dog does get sick. Message #2 is that we'll be opening the kennel on
June 1st, or maybe even a week earlier. We couldn't get the 3 million
dollar plan, or even the million dollar plan, but the nice folks at
Regions Bank gave us a boost up to get running with about 70 big dogs
and 30 little dogs using our existing building, so we're going with
that. We're making plans for a gala Open House on May 31st, plus
learning new systems and coming up with new marketing collateral;
policies, procedures, and pricing, o my! So we're busy as those
paper wasps
building nests in your window sills (you've found them, haven't you?).
We'll keep you posted as things get scheduled and done. Happy Spring!
