Daycare Photo Journal
September 2007:
The National Weather
Service reported gleefully that last month was the hottest August on
record in Chattanooga. The average temperature was 7 degrees above
normal, there were 22 straight days at or above 95 degrees, and 9 that
were over 100. Five daily records were broken, with the occasional gems
like 105 degrees on the old mercury. For crying out loud! Now, translate
all that earth-falling-into-the-sun weather into dog daycare. All those dogs
(well, except Pearl)
with their fur coats out in all that. Our daycare staff had to be
extra careful to keep them from over-doing it since heat stroke can kill
a dog in 10 minutes. We spent a lot of time indoors and doubled our water bill for the month: lots of
pool and sprinkler games, extra water bowls scattered about, damp
towels, ice-cube production, and the daily matinee featured
Billy, a hose, and a
boatload of retrievers. We got through it, but we're glad it's done and
over with. Here's to an average September!! -- Bev
