January 2012: Play Dog Excellent LLC (PDX) is conducting
a search to fill part-time positions in our boarding kennel. PDX
provides dog boarding, daycare, and training services in Chattanooga,
TN. We are searching for mature, responsible employees that will help
grow our business and continue to develop our excellent reputation with
customers, suppliers, and business partners. We need people who are
committed to providing the very best care to our canine customers,
reliable, patient, thorough, physically and mentally capable of
strenuous work, long hours, and unpleasant cleanup tasks. Our ideal
candidate is someone with experience in either animal care (veterinary,
pet sitting, kennel work, shelter work, etc.) or dog training and
performance events (obedience, agility, tracking, field trials, etc.)
who doesn’t mind starting at the bottom in order to achieve career goals
that may include certification in dog training, grooming, behavior,
and/or kennel management.

Sunday: 8am - 10am; 5pm - 7pm
Job Description
The Kennel Care Associate is
responsible for caring for our canine overnight guests. This includes
feeding, walking, exercising, administering medications, and bathing
dogs of all sizes and breeds. It also includes cleaning the kennels and
grounds, taking out trash, sanitizing bowls, washing towels and beds,
and otherwise ensuring that the environment is clean, odor-free, and
germ-free.

Job Description
Daycare associates are
responsible primarily for ensuring the safety of each dog in the
playgroup. Additional responsibilities include the maintenance and
cleaning of the daycare play areas, rest areas, and all other areas of
the facility as assigned.
Floater and Cleaning Duties
-
Thoroughly complete cleaning duties as assigned,
including crates, towels, food and water bowls, trash cans,
reception, office, public areas, and dog play areas.
-
Safely move dogs between reception, play, and rest
areas.
-
Scoop front and side yard areas as well as outdoor
play areas. Clean and disinfect collection tools.
-
Provide care or potty breaks to other dogs as
assigned (small dogs, day board dogs, etc.)
-
Cover reception, including assisting customers in
person and on the phone. Requires detailed understanding of PDX
service offerings and classes.

Track progress as required on Daily Daycare
Checklist.
-
Provide food, water, and medications as necessary.
Dog
Management
-
Interact with dogs in playgroups using appropriate
toys and tools to ensure safe levels of play and minimizing stress
levels of all dogs in playgroup. Maintain visual observation of
dogs at all times and spread attention and play among all dogs in
playgroup.

Control level of play by following dog management and
control procedures and instructions provided by Director of
Operations (DO).

Use proper dog handling techniques including use of
kennel leads to transfer dogs.
-
Use proper dog introduction procedures.
-
Use appropriate praise and correction methods.
-
Ensure you know all dogs in playgroup and can
properly identify them. Use collars to identify dogs that are
similar in appearance.
-
Watch all new dogs carefully and immediately consult
with DO when issues arise. Report any unusual behavior,
eliminations, or injuries to the DO immediately.
-
Review special needs list and manage dogs as
instructed.
-
Ensure staff that relieve you for break or shift
change know all dogs in group, the special needs dog status and any
unusual behaviors or concerns you have been managing during your
shift.

Use proper procedures when moving dogs to outdoor
play yard and returning to indoor areas.

Minimum
Experience, Skills, Certification, or Academic Background Required
Previous experience providing animal care (personal or job related)
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a physically demanding
environment
Previous work experience demonstrating dependability is preferred
Reliable transportation
Ability to follow instructions and learn new things
Ability to work in a team environment
Good oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Demonstrated flexibility and proven coping skills
Note: smoking is not allowed anywhere at our location
